Thank you for choosing VCL Joaillerie. Every piece is crafted to the highest standards. This page explains the protection that comes with your fine jewelry.

Legal warranties under applicable law always apply and take precedence. Nothing below limits your rights under Quebec’s Consumer Protection Act or the Civil Code of Quebec.

Legal warranties (Quebec / Canada)

Your purchase is automatically protected by the free legal warranties under Quebec law (Consumer Protection Act and Civil Code):

  • Fitness for normal use and reasonable durability considering the nature and price of the piece.
  • Protection against latent defects that existed at the time of sale.

These legal warranties cannot be excluded and remain in force regardless of any commercial warranty.

VCL commercial warranty

In addition to the legal warranties, VCL covers manufacturing defects and original setting defects for the life of the piece.

Covered at no charge when confirmed by our atelier:

  • Structural defects in the mount, welds, and original craftsmanship.
  • Defective original settings (prongs, bezels, etc.) that fail under normal wear.
  • Stone loss caused solely by an original defective setting.

Chargeable after-sales service:

  • Prong retipping or resetting due to normal wear or impact.
  • Rhodium re-plating, polishing, refinishing.
  • Size adjustments after the initial complimentary period as confirmed by the atelier at purchase.
  • Any repair not caused by a manufacturing defect.

Conditions for the commercial warranty:

  • Present the original VCL invoice.
  • The piece must not have been modified, resized, or repaired by a third party.
  • Normal use only.

Exclusions from the commercial warranty:

  • Impact, crushing, twisting, sports, or accidental damage.
  • Normal wear (scratches, band thinning, tarnish, rhodium wear, chain stretch).
  • Loss, theft, or mysterious disappearance.
  • Chemical exposure (chlorine, perfume, harsh cleaners).
  • Client-supplied stones (unless agreed in writing).

These exclusions do not affect your legal warranties.

After-sales service

Even outside warranty, VCL repairs its own pieces. The process is: drop-off or insured shipping → evaluation → quote → repair after approval → insured return.

Insurance

A jeweler’s warranty is not insurance. We strongly recommend having your piece appraised and insured (agreed-value rider preferred) against theft, loss, and accidental damage.
